As the host of ‘SNL,’ Kim Kardashian West makes fun of her famous family.
During her first turn hosting Saturday Night Live, Kim Kardashian West, dressed in a hot pink catsuit, skewered everyone from her mother’s boyfriend to her famous sex tape and estranged husband Kanye West.
“I know, I’m surprised to see me here, too,” she began her opening monologue Saturday, after her appearance sparked a Twitter debate between fans and detractors. “I mean, I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time.”
She also made fun of herself, saying she’s more than just a pretty face with “good hair, great makeup, amazing boobs, and a perfect butt.” One thing she isn’t, she says, is a gold digger, which she had to learn from her mother Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble.
Noting her sentencing reform work, which has helped to free innocent people from prison while she studies law, Kardashian West stated that her passion has led her to follow in her attorney father’s footsteps (Robert Kardashian helped represent O.J. Simpson).
“It’s because of him I met my first Black person. Wanna take a stab in the dark on who it was,” She was referring to Simpson when she said this.
Simpson was acquitted of two counts of murder in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson, and Ronald Goldman in 1994, but a civil court jury found him liable and ordered him to pay $33.5 million.
Kardashian West made a joke about Kanye West’s failed presidential bid and her stepmother Caitlyn Jenner’s failed California governor bid.
“I’m here to announce that I’m running… just kidding,” she said with a smile.
Kanye accompanied Kim to New York for her appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. After six years of marriage, she filed for divorce in February. The couple, who have four children together, have been photographed several times in recent months.
Halsey, the musical guest, was flawless, accompanied on guitar for one song by Lindsey Buckingham. Before the show, Halsey tweeted a photo of herself pumping breast milk backstage. In July, she gave birth.
Kris Jenner and her sister Khloe Kardashian appeared in a few sketches, including one in which Aidy Bryant and Kim switched bodies.
Kim parodied sister Kourtney by playing a bored judge in a spinoff of The People’s Court, including her sibling’s penchant for PDA with boyfriend Travis Barker from his lap. She ruled over Kris, Khloe, and the cast members who played Kanye and Kim’s sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
In a send-off for The Bachelorette, Kardashian West also gave gold tokens to Jesse Williams, John Cena, and others. Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Blake Griffin of the NBA, and real-life Bachelorette competitor Tyler Cameron all made appearances.
In another sketch, Kim played Jasmine to Pete Davidson’s Aladdin, the latter a version of the Disney character who was nervous about “doing sex” with the stunning princess.
Maybe the cutest moment? Kim used an actual dog chunk to introduce a new addition to her wildly popular shapewear brand Skims — “Skims for thick dogs.”
