Apple is going to file an appeal against the Brazilian Government Ministry of Justice for an Order Restricting iPhone Sell
Apple, a manufacturer of smartphones, has said that it plans to submit an appeal against the Ministry of Justice of Brazil. Apple is about to release a new device. Other iPhone models that are offered without the charger are reportedly no longer allowed by the government. According to the ministry’s statement, the company does not sell its customers’ entire products. Currently, the tech company does not include chargers with phones. The decision to not give chargers along with phones was taken by the corporation in the year 2020; the company then indicated that this practice was aimed at lowering the environmental pollution.
The Ministry levied a 12.75 million real fine against the maker of the iPhone. In its directive, the ministry demanded that the iPhone manufacturer stop selling its 12 series models in the nation. The regulatory body has further urged the tech giant to halt selling its next variants of the iPhone. Additionally, Apple is already prohibited from selling phones that don’t have a charger by the regulatory agency. The regulatory board considers that not including a charger with the phone constitutes discriminatory behavior and that the iPhone producer is intentionally doing this act. This justification was made public by the Ministry of Justice and published in the Brazilian Official Gazette.
When Apple presented its case in court, it claimed that by not including an iPhone charger with the phones, it was minimizing carbon emissions. This notion was, however, disproved because the claims were unsupported by any studies or other substantial evidence. The company that makes the iPhone is said to have said that it would work closely with Senacon, the Brazilian Consumer Protection Agency, to ease the government’s concerns.
The maker of the iPhone expressed confidence in winning the case in a statement. It has also been claimed that Apple users are aware of alternative ways to connect and charge their devices. According to Apple, we are certain that our customers are aware of the numerous alternatives for charging and connecting their devices because we have already won multiple court decisions in Brazil on this subject.
