EA has announced the second year of the Apex Legends Global Series, which will include a $5 million prize pool, console crossplay, and LAN tournaments for the booming esports.
Following their success in the ALGS NA Championship Finals, the squad announced that they will be even bigger and better in the coming season. And there are a few new complications this time around, as a larger prize pool necessitates a more competitive ecology.
The $5 million prize pool and return to live tournaments are the obvious headlines, but Apex is also changing formats to accommodate a larger player population. These latter modifications are reflected in new competitive leagues.
Apex Legends Global Series Prize Pool & LAN Events

The world’s best Apex gamers will compete for $5 million, and yes, those players will be able to compete in person for that money.
The goals have always been for interregional competition on LAN, as ALGS commissioner John Nelson told us back in January. It will shortly be realized, with the season opener scheduled for September 2021 and the ALGS Championship scheduled for July 2022.
Apex Legends Global Series Prize console crossplay & leagues
In Year 2, console players will be able to join the war for the first time in ALGS history. Players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to participate, but they will have to use “PC-value aim assist settings” (as detailed in the ALGS blog).
Through the ALGS Pro League and Challenger Circuit, the ALGS will open up the competition to both professional and amateur athletes. These two leagues are aimed at benefiting numerous Apex esports tiers across the globe, with a concentration on five regions: North America, EMEA, APAC South, APAC North, and South America.
