Angelina Jolie Reveals Brad Pitt’s abuse against her and kids
Angelina Jolie claims her ex-husband Brad Pitt was “emotionally and physically abusive” to her and their children.
New lawsuit filings reveal claimed violent episodes aboard a plane in September 2016.
The charges are part of Jolie’s cross-complaint in the former couple’s legal fight over the sale of their French vineyard.
Documents filed in Los Angeles claim Pitt “verbally attacked” his ex-wife and “lunged” at one of his children.
“Jolie’s marriage ended September 14, 2016. Jolie, Pitt, and their children were traveling from Chateau Miraval to Los Angeles documents said.
“Throughout the long, overnight flight, Pitt was physically and emotionally abusive to Jolie and their children, who were then between the ages of eight and 15.
“After that flight, for her family’s wellbeing, Jolie decided to file for divorce.”
Pitt rejects them.
The petition claimed Pitt’s “aggressive behaviour” began before boarding the plane, when he confronted the children and Jolie.
“When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him.
“To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seats injuring Jolie’s back and elbow.
“The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face.
“Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
Documents indicate Pitt proceeded to be abusive, yelling at the family and spilling beer and wine on the children.
After landing, Pitt allegedly stopped his family from disembarking and mistreated another youngster.
Five days later, on 19 September 2016, Jolie filed for divorce and the FBI began investigating.
“After interviewing various witnesses, the FBI agent who conducted the investigation concluded that the government had probable cause to charge Pitt with a federal crime for his conduct that day, and the agent prepared a probable cause statement for referral to the United States Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” the documents said.
Jolie “has gone to great lengths to try to shield their children from reliving the pain Pitt inflicted on the family that day.”
“When Pitt filed this lawsuit seeking to reassert control over Jolie’s financial life and compel her to rejoin her ex-husband as a frozen-out business partner, Pitt forced Jolie to publicly defend herself on these issues for the first time,” they said.
The couple’s argument centers on the sale of their interests in Chateau Miraval SA, a French firm that includes a residence and vineyard in southern France.
Pitt has accused Jolie of organizing a “hostile” takeover of the wine firm he “carefully built” and forcing him into partnership with Russian businessman Yuri Shefler.
The couple bought the Miraval estate in Correns, France, for €25 million.
Pitt provided 60% to the buying price, and Jolie paid 40%.
