Andy Cohen Issues an Apology to Garcelle Beauvais
On the second half of the season 12 reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, some viewers became upset with Andy’s behavior. On the episode airing October 19, Lisa Rinna admitted that she, not Erika Jayne (who had previously posted the garbage photo on Instagram), had taken the photo of co-star Garcelle Beauvais’ biography.
Andy made a joke about Lisa’s recycling habits during the conversation. They questioned Lisa, “Do you recycle?” and then the host said, “You took a lot of s—t, Erika, for her lack of recycling.” Some viewers thought Andy had been insensitive because he had not acknowledged Garcelle’s thoughts about it.
The host has since issued an apology to Garcelle in response to the criticisms she raised.
On his SiriusXM show Radio Andy, the 54-year-old claimed, “Everybody’s been talking about the Beverly Hills reunion,” The speaker continues, “And I just want to say, I’ve been listening to everyone’s feedback about the reunion, and I really need to sincerely apologize, not only for diverting the topic but for not returning—even worse—to the serious conversation that was at hand.”
Andy said, “deep admiration” and he went on to say that he had “She and I had a really good, productive conversation last Thursday, and I should have been more in tune with her feelings.” for Garcelle.
“So, I just wanted to say that because I’ve been logging in and I get it.” he said at the end of his message.
At the RHOBH reunion, Lisa claimed that after reading the chapter on her daughter Amelia Hamlin’s eating disorder in Garcelle’s book, Love Me as I Am, she threw it away.
Lisa revealed that “Garcelle and I had a handshake agreement the kids were off limits, And so, about a year and a half later, she put my daughter Amelia in her book in not a positive light, in a negative light. And that’s what I did.”
Though Garcelle claimed the book added nothing new to what was already known about Amelia from the Bravo series, she did work out a settlement with Lisa and her group.
As Garcelle put it, “We all came up with a second edition of the book,” adding, “we will take it out as well as the audio and that’s what we did.”
