Andrei Arlovski wins a majority decision over Carlos Felipe in the UFC Vegas 40 main event
Andrei Arlovski is still going strong at the age of 42. With a strong performance against Carlos Felipe in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 40 on Saturday night, the supposedly ageless heavyweight improved to 4-1 in his previous five fights. In the first two rounds, Arlovski displayed excellent footwork and a range of strikes, and in the third, he survived a late comeback attempt by Felipe to win a unanimous decision.
Arlovski won the fight 29-28 on all three judges’ scores, improving his record to 32-20 with two no contests in his illustrious career.
Arlovski expressed his confidence in the verdict by saying, “I knew I won the first two rounds.” “I’m like Nike; just do it,” she says.
Arlovski, who was quick on his feet, worked from the outside, staying out of range of Felipe’s immense power, which was largely demonstrated through big haymakers delivered without any pre-planning. This allowed Arlovski to throw body kicks and then blitz forward with punches in the first round, preventing Felipe from landing much of anything.
Felipe was clearly frustrated by Arlovski’s ability to mix up his attacks and then get out of the way before he could fully respond. Felipe kept ducking his head and unleashing a powerful overhand right, but Arlovski was smart enough to see it coming and get out of the way before he was hit.

Felipe finally managed to tag Arlovski with some of his massive punches just before the second round ended, as the former heavyweight champion was starting to slow down with his mobility. Felipe was charging forward, delivering massive punches and attempting the knockout with each strike.
In the final round, Felipe was really putting the hurt on Arlovski, who was just trying to collect his breath. Felipe walked down Arlovski after Arlovski, delivering tremendous punches after punches, but he never quite connected clean enough to do the necessary damage to score the finish.
Arlovski was also astute in returning fire and then moving out of the way before Felipe could catch him off guard, allowing him to make it to the final horn and win the decision.
Arlovski has been a force to be reckoned with in the UFC since 2000, and he’s proving that he’s a force to be reckoned with no matter what the heavyweight division throws at him.
