Addison Rae’s now-deleted Instagram photo has sparked backlash from fans terming it “Blasphemous”
Addison Rae’s photo of herself in a dress deemed “disrespectful” and “blasphemous” by fans has prompted a wave of outrage.
On Tuesday, the 21-year-old Addison posted a photo of herself wearing a “Holy Trinity” bikini from Praying, a clothing brand.
The swimsuit in question is currently available on Praying’s website for $100. In addition to “Father,” “Son,” and “Holy Spirit,” the top of the piece says “Father.”
Instagram users were quick to label Addison’s outfit “disrespectful” and “messed up” in the comments, according to Page Six.
“Nah this disrespectful to Jesus. Sad what y’all do for money,” one person wrote. “This is not okay! BLASPHEMY!” added another.
user wrote, “Is nobody gonna talk about this disrespecting religions,” while a fourth agreed: “so messed up.”
As if that was not enough, fans expressed similar feelings on Twitter. “I wonder what christians think about addison rae’s post. the underwear says ‘holy spirit.’ is this not blasphemy?”
Addison did not respond to the controversy in any way, however she did quickly remove the photo from her Instagram profile after receiving complaints.
Praying’s Instagram page has already been inundated with comments requesting that the store be shut down because of its “disrespectful” clothing.
Because of its “disrespectful” clothing, Praying’s Instagram page has been deluged with comments requesting the store be stopped down completely.
An image from the brand’s most recent campaign displays a shirt that says, “I’ll talk to God when I’m dead.” Instagram users have also slammed that piece of work.
Earlier this year, the company published an image of Olivia Rodrigo wearing one of their shirts, which said, “happy and healthy.” Praying’s “Twilight” shoulder bag has also made an appearance on the singer’s arm.
Despite the outcry, many social media users appear to be even more uncomfortable with their Christian-themed designs than they were in the past.
