Aaron Taylor-Johnson met with James Bond officials to play 007
Daniel Craig’s departure from the James Bond series meant that the franchise had to choose a new 007. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was born in High Wycombe, United Kingdom, was apparently just one of the people they met with. He’s the right age and has the right kind of fame to suit the studio’s mould for a leading British actor. They had earlier said they wanted an actor in his early 30s who would be available to play the part for the foreseeable future. While he is best known for his action roles, Aaron Taylor-Johnson also has a strong track record in tragic roles.
For his performance as gang boss Ray Marcus in the 2017 movie “Nocturnal Animals,” Taylor-Johnson received the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor. That part demonstrated that he possessed the tools necessary to give a commanding performance in a well regarded film. His work as Quicksilver in action blockbusters like “Avengers: Age of Ultron” has gotten him acclaim. All of these things on the actor’s portfolio are what convinced producer Barbara Brocoli to set up an interview. Matthew Belloni of Puck News was the one to report that Johnson and Brocoli had a fruitful encounter.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson may have a stellar track record, but he doesn’t come from a family of super stars. He has a prominent role, but he isn’t quite as famous or successful as the top actors in Hollywood. This part is the one that might catapult him to superstardom. By the sounds of this, the meeting went swimmingly, and Brocoli was impressed by the actor’s range. This actor is the only one who has successfully met with Brocoli and had it made public. Taylor-Johnson might be the next James Bond if plans fall into place.
As the producer has stated previously, she is not interested in casting a woman as James Bond in a gender-bending role. The production company Metro Goldwyn Meyer shares this sentiment. They got as far as having an actress portray 007 in the last film, but Daniel Craig remained in the role throughout. Updates on what came out of this discussion with Aaron Taylor-Johnson can be expected later in 2023.
