A widespread outage has been experienced by Instagram
You are not alone if you tried to access Instagram on Sunday and were met with an error message.
The nightly outage of the social networking platform lasted for nearly an hour and a half, resulting in widespread panic, mayhem, and memes.
Apologies such as “Sorry, something went wrong” and “Sorry, couldn’t refresh feed” were displayed to users all across the world.
As a result of the outage, Instagram users went to other social media platforms to vent their frustration, leading to the trending of the hashtags “#instagramdown,” “y’allIG,” and others.
Meta, the company that owns Instagram, issued a statement to The Verge acknowledging the problem, saying, “We’re aware that some individuals are having problems accessing Instagram. Please accept our apologies; we’re doing everything in our power to restore normal service as soon as possible.
It seems that the system fault was substantially fixed around 7:30 pm EST. None of Meta’s other properties, including Facebook, appeared to be impacted.
