A Washington State Patrol trooper was shot in Walla Walla
On Thursday night in Walla Walla, a member of the Washington State Patrol was shot. According to Trooper Sarah Clasen, the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Myra Road and Poplar Street, not far from Sportsman’s Warehouse.
He was then shot, according to Clasen. The trooper was conscious and attentive as he drove the 1.5 miles down West Poplar Street to the Providence St. Mary Medical Center at 401 W. Poplar St. Nobody knew right away how he was doing.
After a brief chase, a suspect was taken into custody about 6 o’clock. According to Clasen, the WSP spoke with the criminal earlier in the day.
The pursuit apparently terminated south of Walla Walla and featured an older, smaller gray automobile.
