A Trans Influencer Nikita Dragun was kept in men’s prison after arrest
Disappointing events occurred in Florida this week besides the election. Nikita Dragun, a beauty vlogger and Hype House star, was taken into custody on November 7 at the Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, when she allegedly doused a police officer with water from a water bottle.
After being requested to stop “walking around the pool area naked,” TMZ reported that the cops were called to Dragun’s hotel room. She was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County and charged with “felony battery on a police officer, misdemeanour disorderly conduct, and misdemeanour battery.”
A recording of her virtual bail court appearance on November 8 has since gone viral, and it has been revealed that Dragun, a trans woman, is being held in the men’s ward of the prison. As part of her bond hearing, Dragun asked the judge, Mindy Glazer, “Do I have to be here in the men’s unit, still? Glazer said, “Yeah, I don’t make the rules up there,” and Dragun was released from jail after paying $5,000 bond.
Publicist Jack Ketsoyan told Miami’s Local 10 News, ““The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous,” The procedure of the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department was explicitly violated by this decision, as transgender detainees are required to be classed and housed differently depending on their individual needs for protection and their gender identity. It is now fair to say that Nikita has been freed.
