A man stole a total of $122 million from Google and Facebook just by asking for the money

Recent news accounts claim that a single person scammed Google and Facebook out of a combined total of $122 million simply by requesting payment. This individual’s approach ended up being unsuccessful for him in every way. According to the claims, this individual was successful in defrauding both corporations, namely Google and Facebook, into paying a total of $99 million and $23 million, respectively. He achieved this by creating fake invoices for goods that neither company had ordered. Surprisingly, both companies paid him as a result of the invoice he created. Evaldas Rimasauskas is the name of the con artist who was responsible for these fraudulent activities.

Through the use of forged invoices, this con artist duped the aforementioned businesses into paying, and he was even successful in persuading the bank that the transactions in question were legal thanks to the presentation of his forged invoices. The most astonishing aspect of this whole scheme is the fact that no official from either of the companies bothered to investigate it before transferring the money to the other party. Even after such a significant sum of money was involved, nobody thought to perform a double-check. The court accepted Evaldas’s guilty plea, and he was subsequently sentenced to sixty years in jail for his theft. Even if Evaldas did get what was coming to him, the lesson here for all tech companies is that they need to double-check before paying a significant sum of money to someone else.
